- All figures are per arch, taken from each practice's own fee guide, so they can be compared like for like.
Why do some Croydon practices list under half the median?
4 of 19 published prices are below £300: Taunton Lane Dental Practice (£115), Crossways Dental Practice Limited (£145), Quality Dental Coulsdon (£145). A figure this far below the borough median is often a narrower product than the rest of the table (a single session, a top-up, or an introductory offer) — check what the practice's fee guide includes before comparing.
Why are some Croydon prices more than double the median?
2 of 19 listed prices exceed £1,198: The Dental Centre (£1,400), Purley Dental Practice (£1,800). These are typically premium packages or specialist-led treatment; the median is a better guide to what a typical Croydon practice charges.
Why does the same practice name appear twice?
1 name recurs (Dental Practice / The Dental Centre). The CQC registers each location separately, and some practices hold two registrations at one address. Each row links to its own CQC registration and each row is counted in the figures above; if the pair is one practice, read it as a single price point.
Every statement above is computed from the 19 published prices in the table below; it changes when the data changes.

A low figure is a real published fee, not a quote — complexity can change the price. Always confirm. How we verify
Acrylic, chrome and flexible
Acrylic dentures are the cheapest and the easiest to add to later. Cobalt-chrome partial dentures have a thinner, stronger metal frame, cost more and are usually more comfortable. Flexible nylon dentures sit between the two and suit some cases better than others.
The appointments behind the price
A denture is normally four or five visits — impressions, a bite registration, a try-in, the fit, then adjustments. Adjustments in the first weeks are normal and should be included; ask whether they are, because sore spots are near-universal at the start.
The NHS alternative
Dentures are NHS Band 3, £332.10, whether it is one denture or two. For a full upper and lower set that is usually the cheapest route by a wide margin.
Between half and four in five denture wearers report being satisfied — and what you are fitted with changes that more than what you pay.
A review of 35 studies found satisfaction ranging from 50% to 81%. Flexible and thermoplastic resin dentures scored higher than traditional metal ones, and designs bounded by teeth on both sides did better than free-end designs. Pain, appearance and difficulty keeping them clean were the main complaints. People who had worn a denture before were more satisfied than first-time wearers, which is worth knowing if this is your first.
