London Dental Price Index
The London Dental Price Index is our open dataset of every CQC-registered dental practice in Greater London — 2,409 practices across all 33 boroughs — with each practice's NHS-acceptance status and published private fees for 37 treatments. It is free to reuse under CC BY 4.0.
592 London practices are accepting new NHS patients — 56.1% of the 1,055 whose NHS profile states a status (August 2026).

Sample. All 2,409 dental practices on the Care Quality Commission register with a registered location in one of the 33 Greater London boroughs, retrieved August 2026.
Practice data (verified). Practice name, borough, postcode and coordinates come from the CQC register; NHS-acceptance status is cross-referenced against NHS ODS data. Both are published under the Open Government Licence v3.0.
Private prices (measured). Every private figure is a price a London practice publishes itself. We read 18,734 individual fees from 1,132 practices' own fee guides and public listings in August 2026, standardised them into 37 treatments, and took one figure per practice per treatment before computing the percentiles. Nothing is modelled, and nothing is borough-adjusted. Each fee on a practice page names the source it came from.
Longitudinal design. This August 2026 file is a frozen baseline. We re-measure the same practices at six and twelve months so that price movement can be reported like-for-like — the same practice then and now — rather than by comparing two different samples.
- 1,132 of the 2,409 practices publish a fee guide we could read; the remaining 1,277 carry no price on this site, because we do not estimate one. Around one fee in seven is priced for something narrower than the standard treatment — a temporary crown, a child's filling — and is shown with the practice's own wording and no comparison.
- NHS-acceptance status changes frequently; a practice's books can open or close week to week.
- Coverage is Greater London only, not the whole UK.
- Practices not on the CQC register at collection time are excluded.

Practices that publish only "from" prices are excluded, because a "from" price is a marketing floor, not a fee.
