The lowest neighbouring median is Brent at £1,074 — £1,426 below Ealing, from 6 published prices. Both are published prices, not quotes; a practice sets its own fee whichever borough it sits in.

Why do some Ealing practices list under half the median?

1 of 7 published prices are below £1,250: Mandeville Dental Centre (£1,000). A figure this far below the borough median is often a narrower product than the rest of the table (a single session, a top-up, or an introductory offer) — check what the practice's fee guide includes before comparing.

Every statement above is computed from the 7 published prices in the table below; it changes when the data changes.

A low figure is a real published fee, not a quote — complexity can change the price. Always confirm. How we verify

A dental implant is a titanium post inserted into the jawbone that supports a crown, bridge or denture. It is the only tooth-replacement option that prevents the bone loss which follows a missing tooth.

What Affects the Price

The implant is placed under local anaesthetic, or sedation for anxious patients. Over 8 to 16 weeks the bone integrates with the implant surface — a process called osseointegration. Once integrated, an abutment and crown are fitted.

Treatment usually takes 2 to 4 appointments over 3 to 6 months. Some clinics offer same-day or immediate-load implants where a temporary crown is placed on the day of surgery.

Success rates are high. Cochrane systematic reviews of implant survival report rates above 95% at 5 years and over 90% at 10 years. Smoking significantly increases failure risk, as does uncontrolled diabetes and poor oral hygiene.

Can I get a dental implant on the NHS? Almost never on the high street. NHS guidance limits implants to defined clinical situations — reconstruction after mouth cancer or major facial trauma, and severe congenitally missing teeth (hypodontia). These are provided through hospital or specialist services on referral, not by booking at a local practice.

If I qualified, what would it cost? Hospital implant treatment for qualifying patients falls under Band 3 — £332.10 — the same charge as dentures or a bridge. That is the patient charge, not the cost of treatment.

Is a “cheap NHS implant” advert legitimate? Treat it as a red flag. A practice cannot sell you an NHS implant outside that referral pathway — what’s advertised is usually a private implant with finance. Compare the total repayable, not the monthly figure, and check the practice on the CQC register.

What does the NHS offer instead? A partial denture or, where suitable, a bridge — both Band 3 (£332.10). Using the NHS option first doesn’t rule out a private implant later.

“All-on-4”-type same-day full-arch treatment is priced per arch, not per tooth — comparing it per-tooth against single implants is misleading.

Questions
Can I get dental implants on the NHS?

Only in exceptional circumstances — typically following cancer treatment or severe trauma. For most patients, implants are private treatment.

How long do dental implants last?

With proper care, 15 to 25 years or longer. The crown on top may need replacing after 10 to 15 years. Success depends on oral hygiene, regular check-ups and avoiding smoking.

Is it worth going abroad for cheaper implants?

Implants in Turkey or Hungary can cost 40–60% less, but follow-up care is difficult, complications require local treatment at full UK prices, and research in the Journal of Travel Medicine has documented complications including infection, implant failure and nerve damage.

NHS charges from DHSC (April 2026); private prices indicative, from published UK cost guides. CQC data under Open Government Licence v3.0. Methodology.
