Why does the same practice name appear twice?

1 name recurs (Chelsea Dental Clinic / Chelsea Dental Studio). The CQC registers each location separately, and some practices hold two registrations at one address. Each row links to its own CQC registration and each row is counted in the figures above; if the pair is one practice, read it as a single price point.

Invisalign uses a series of custom clear aligners to move teeth gradually. It is one of several clear-aligner systems; all adult orthodontic treatment is private in the UK.

What Affects the Price

NHS orthodontics is essentially limited to under-18s who meet the IOTN clinical-need threshold, and it uses fixed braces, not aligners. Adult aligner treatment in London is almost always private.

Avoid remote “aligners by post” services with no in-person examination and X-rays: moving teeth with undiagnosed gum disease or short roots can cause permanent damage. Every practice listed here is a CQC-registered physical location.

Aligners are worn 20–22 hours a day and changed roughly weekly. A 3D scan plans the full sequence before treatment starts, and a simulation shows the projected result.

Comprehensive treatment typically takes 12 to 18 months; minor cosmetic cases 3 to 6 months. Retainers are needed indefinitely afterwards to prevent relapse.

For mild to moderate crowding, a well-trained general dentist achieves results equivalent to a specialist. For significant bite problems, impacted teeth or jaw discrepancies, a specialist orthodontist is the appropriate choice.

Questions
Is Invisalign cheaper with a general dentist than an orthodontist?

Often 10–20% less. For mild to moderate cases the outcome is equivalent. For complex cases a specialist orthodontist may achieve a better result.

Does the NHS cover Invisalign?

No. Adult orthodontics is private. NHS orthodontics is available for under-18s who meet the clinical need criteria, but uses fixed braces, not Invisalign.

How long does Invisalign take?

Comprehensive treatment 12 to 18 months; minor cosmetic cases 3 to 6 months.

NHS charges from DHSC (April 2026); private prices indicative, from published UK cost guides. CQC data under Open Government Licence v3.0. Methodology.
